Labor Day weekend is here! Maybe because I’m getting older and time flies at a faster rate, but wasn’t the Fourth of July a couple of weeks ago? Fortunately our fishing has been and should continue to be very good through our last holiday weekend, although hatches have been a little inconsistent on one of our waters.
Lake Erie: The perch bite was excellent midweek out of Walnut Creek in 47-55 feet. Walleye fishing slowed a little, but mixed sizes were still coming in 75-80 feet.
Rain, wind and cooler temperatures could supply the jump-start needed to get the salmon runs under way, the state Department of Natural Resources and Environment said.
