A series of fly fishing courses are being offered again this year through the Community Schools. Tony Soltys, president of the Raincountry Flyfishers, will be instructing the courses, which will feature hands-on fly tying and casting.

Fly fishing It’s not prime time for fly fishermen unless they’re chasing whitefish, but Rock Creek in Montana has been fishing fairly well. Nymph rigs including Copper Johns, Rubberlegs, worms and princes have been getting the most attention. The lower river has been the most productive lately.

Whether the focus is trout rising to tiny tricos in Montana or to huge cicadas in New Zealand, the global nature of the Fly Fishing Film Tour is luring anglers across the country to an evening of fine fishing – no waders or license required. The fourth annual film tour is coming to the Bing Crosby Theater in Spokane on Feb. 8 with portions of 11 films compiled into a 2-hour show.
